Series I: Correspondence includes mostly incoming letters to Crawford and deal mainly with his publications. Series II: Subject files contains grant applications, news clippings, Crawford's curriculum vitae, reviews, etc. Series III: Works by Crawford includes handwritten and typed work, both drafts and finished works, as well as notes, outlines and articles. It is arranged into four subseries, A. Cocopa, B. Yuchi, C. Yuman, and D. Other. Series IV: Research Notes includes notes and notebooks on linguistic topics. Series V: Card Files, the largest series in the collection, contains card-sized papers that are mostly dictionary terms for different languages. Series VI: Course Material contains mostly notes from graduate courses in linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley.
